Hi! I’m Ryan. I lead engineering at Spoonflower

I lead across the full system at Spoonflower including frontend, backend, search and discovery, platform, data, DevOps, manufacturing systems, and analytics, supporting a print-on-demand platform with millions of designs. I still like having fingers on the keyboard. I’ve led teams, architected, and shipped across a range of domains including ecommerce, healthcare, fintech, SaaS, and genealogy. The through-line is always the same: complex systems that got messy, teams that need to move faster, and processes stuck somewhere between “push and pray” and something you can actually trust. I’m also deep in applying AI where it creates leverage, improving search relevance, accelerating engineering work, and making systems easier to reason about, driving real speed, clarity, and confidence.
